Faith revisited.

Back on June 24th I had a post titled Faith hence the "revisited".

Hebrews chapter 11 is known as the Faith Chapter. The writer gives us a history lesson of the founders of our Faith and their faith in God and his provision. Today I want to look at Hebrews 11:23-29.

23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

It's starts with the parents. Yes, God does call people who did not have Christian parents, but if you are a Christian parent take note that your children will look at your example. Though Moses was to young to remember his mom putting him in the river and why, I have no doubt he was told the story when God worked it out for his own mother to be his nurse maid. He was a witness to faith from birth.

24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.

Fleeting pleasures of sin. Oh how often I follow my own desires only to be empty inside. God made the earth for us to enjoy, but when we enjoy it outside of God's will we will never be fulfilled.

26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

How eternally minded are we when we make day to day decisions? If I am honest God, heaven and eternity are not even considered when I make my day to day decisions. Yet here we see Moses example. Egypt had more money than Bill Gates. As son of Pharaoh's daughter NOTHING would be denied him. Food, women, "stuff" and money were his for the taking. Yet he chose God over it all. Do we?

27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.

We are instructed to obey the .gov because God instituted Government. Romans 13:1 However when Government goes against God we are to obey God without fear. Moses knew what God wanted him to do and he did it.

28 By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

Read this account in Exodus 12. What God told Moses to do sounds weird. Yet he did as he was told and Israel was saved.

29 By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.

Now because of Moses' faith the people's faith was strengthen and they too followed God's commands. Let's decide today the we too will follow Christ by faith as Moses did.

God Bless
