1 Peter 3:1-7

1 Peter 3:1-7
Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

"In the same way".  Look back to yesterday's lesson and you will see what way.  The same way the Christ obey the father and died for our sins.  That is the standard by which you are to submit.  Some of you may have issue with this level of submission.  It's not me saying this.  It's the Word of God.  If you missed the lesson from Paul, the men have the same standard. Eph. 5:21-33

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

I see a woman all decked out in jewelry and expensive clothes and it does not impress me that much. It also saddens me how many have believed the lie they need makeup to look good.  A woman who smiles with her eyes and has a genuine spark within is much more attractive.  Be the woman God wants you to be and you will melt a man's heart.

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

Again "in the same way".  Our standard here too is Christ.  We are to respect out wives.  The term weaker is not an insult to woman.  It's a fact.  Most women are smaller and weaker than men.  I've also heard it preached that another translation is "more emotional".  Women in general are feelers and we men are mostly logical, we tend to get upset when women don't see our "logic".  We need to respect our wives input.  Our prayers to God are hindered if we don't.

God Bless.
