Romans 12:14-21

Romans 12:14-21 NIV
 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

This is not easy.  Getting even feels so good.

 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

Empathize and meet people where they are.  When someone realizes that you care they will be open to what you have to say about Christ.

 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Pride is a key problem discord.  I'd go so far as to say it is the source for prejudice, discord and conceit.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.

There are days we think we know what to do. It is wise to seek counsel before acting.

 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

You are only responsible for your actions.  You could do everything right and the other party still refused to live in peace with you.  The is nothing else you need do at this point.

 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
   “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
   if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Especially after you have done everything to keep the peace, remember these words.  Your only responsible for your part. Revenge is NOT your part.

God Bless.
